How to Get Rid of an Oily Forehead

Oil forehead

The cause of an oily forehead or the presence of extra oil on the face or any other part of the body is the excessive or abnormal secretion of sebum, which is secreted by the sebaceous glands. The sebaceous glands are found in the skin and secrete the waxy and oily substance known as sebum to waterproof and lubricate the upper layer of skin and the hair. Sebaceous glands are found in the highest numbers on the scalp, forehead and the face, while they are also found in all other skin parts excluding the soles and the palm.
As the sebum is rich in wax, esters, fatty acids, and triglycerides, it has a very oily composition and texture. While the sebum on its own does not have any smell or odour, it can be broken down by the external bad bacteria, which can decompose it so that it may produce false and strong odour. Apart from a bad smell, an oily forehead can also be a cause of acne, pimples and other skin related medical conditions and can cause psychological stress and embarrassment.
Here are some tips and ways to prevent and overcome oily forehead and the medical conditions related to it. These home remedies can be easily practised and followed at home and are quite affordable as well.

1. Use Cleanser Regularly

Presence of bacteria, dust, debris, pollutants and other adverse substances can be a cause of acne and pimples that may occur on an oily forehead. You can remove the excess oil from your face and forehead by using a gentle cleanser on a regular basis. Let the application clean your excess oil and wash with clean and warm water. Pat dry the skin in a gentle manner subsequently. The cleanser will open up the skin pores and will remove the excess waxes so that your skin can breathe freely. You can also use a quality soap for oily skin for cleaning it 2 times every day.

2. Use the Non-comedogenic Moisturiser

The non-comedogenic moisturisers are the oil-free moisturisers that can prevent the clogging of skin pores and balance the oil composition of your skin. Wash and apply this moisturiser on your forehead and remain free of oil.

3. Use the Astringent Pads and the Oil Blotting Papers

The astringent pads are available easily at the pharmacies, are non-prescription medical products that a pharmacy can sell to a customer over the counter (OTC) as well, and can be used as a fast treatment for oily skin. You can have a few of these pads in your purse always and use them frequently so that the forehead remains oil free and clean. In some women, frequent washing of the face and forehead may trigger dryness or irritation. Astringent pads are useful and affordable solutions in these cases. Likewise, the oil blotting papers are also available easily and can be used to remove excess oil from skin and forehead.

4. Use Relaxation Techniques

Stress has been found to trigger the excessive production of sebum and sebum oil on the forehead. You can practice certain relaxation techniques including yoga and meditation among others so that the stress does not overwhelm your glands, and your forehead remains free from wax and oil.

5. Curd Pack

You can add curd to the face pack you use and apply the mixture on the forehead after every few days to get rid of the excess oil secretions that occur on the forehead. Remember to apply a thick coat with a potent texture.

6. The Egg White

Egg white in the form of forehead pack will add lustre and glow to the skin and also balance its pH so that the oil content is optimised and is not on the higher side. You can obtain the egg white portion from a few eggs and mix it with an optimum amount of honey. This face pack can be applied to the forehead a few times every week.

7. Milk of Magnesium

Milk of Magnesium can absorb the oil quickly and provides a very smooth and supple skin texture. The Milk of Magnesium bottles is easily available at pharmacies and other stores. Remember to wet your entire face and also shake the product bottle well before you actually use and apply it.
Eat well-balanced diet regularly and also attend your daily exercise sessions in order to have good skin and body health.
